BEIRUT: The value of property sales reached $1.808 billion in the first quarter of 2011, down by a 14.5 percent relative to the first quarter of last year, Bank Audi’s Lebanon Weekly Monitor said, citing figures released by the Directorate of Real Estate.
The report said the number of property sales transactions declined by 21.2 percent in the first quarter of 2011 relative to the same period of 2010 to reach 17,373 transactions.
It said the contraction in real estate activity is attributed to political tensions in the country and to the regional turmoil.
